  15. 1. FIRST TIME USE: 
  16. ------------------
  17. Several QCD options are disabled by default. Be sure to
  18. customize QCD to your liking by setting the various Preferenes
  19. and GUI Options. These are located under 'Options' in the
  20. main window menu.
  21. Also be sure to view the 'Help & Tips' section of the about
  22. dialog. It has many tips, hints and help. This section is
  23. under the 'QCD...' option of the main window menu.

  28. 2. NEW FEATURES IN 1.2:

  32. *** Command Line Options
  33.     There are several commands that can be sent to QCD. To 
  34. use them, just create a shortcut to the QCD executable. Then add 
  35. one or more of the commands to the end of the entry in the 'Target' 
  36. section in the properties of the shortcut. 
  37. The commands are as follows:
  38.     /play        - tells QCD to start playing
  39.     /play trackX    - tells QCD to start playing track X
  40.     /play d:\trackX - tells QCD to start playing track X on CDROM d:
  41.     /pause        - pause cd (if playing)
  42.     /stop        - stop cd (if playing)
  43.     /trkfwd        - go to next track (if playing)
  44.     /trkbwd        - go back one track (if playing)
  45.     /eject        - eject (or close) cdrom
  46.     /togglewin    - toggle between full and shade mode
  47.     /ontop        - toggle 'Always On Top'

  50. *** Caching Queries
  51.     Hate having to logon to the Internet just to download one 
  52. CD? Well, now you can store any amount of CD's in the QCD database 
  53. and download the CDDB info for them at a later time - all at once!

  56. *** Better Windows Explorer support
  57.     Now when you double click on an Audio CD track (*.cda) in 
  58. your Windows Explorer, QCD will switch to the correct drive and 
  59. start playing the track you selected. (This only applies when you 
  60. have QCD selected as the default player - see Options->Preferences->Startup/Shutdown)

  63. *** Better Exporting
  64.     Now with the plain text filter you are able to select the 
  65. information you want to export, including the extended info. More 
  66. filters are currently in the works, such as an html export and a 
  67. delimited ascii export filter.

  70. *** Copy Track in Playlist
  71.     Now you can have more than one of any track in the 
  72. tracklist. Just hold shift before dragging any track (as you would 
  73. when programming it) and a copy of the track is made instead. All 
  74. copied tracks are marked as such, and can be removed by right 
  75. clicking them.

  78. *** Track Pruning
  79.     Now you can have QCD ignore all the small useless tracks 
  80. used to hide secret tracks. Just set the length in seconds of any 
  81. tracks to ignore, and they won't appear in the tracklist or 
  82. quicktrack menu.

  85. *** Skins Support
  86.     Now you can have custom made skins to change the look of 
  87. QCD. Download other's or make one yourself.

  91. *** Full Volume Controls
  92.     There is now a CD volume control on the main display for 
  93. easy access. Plus a complete mixer set (master/cd volume, bass, 
  94. treble, balance) when you click the 'mixer' button.

  97. *** QCD Database Merging
  98.     Ever have two or more QCD database from different locations 
  99. that you wanted to combine to one? Well, now you can. Look for this 
  100. in Options->QCDDatabase->Import

  103. *** Several Useability Options

  105. - data disks can be flagged as such, and you can stop them from 
  106.     being queried
  107. - option to open the CDROM in shared mode. 
  108. - adjustable network timeout setting
  109. - option to display fuzzy matches or just choose first close match

  112. 3. QCD DATABASE FILE:
  113. ---------------------
  114. The file QCD stores all download cd information, qcd.qdb, 
  115. is a file emulating a file system. Any modifications to the file 
  116. not made by QCD, will most likely render the database useless. 
  117. Therefore, do not modify this file by hand!
  118. Aside: For the inquisitive, the database file follows the Quake
  119. *.pak file specs.
